Bike Month Kicks Off, Hot Weather Ahead
Truckee/North Tahoe This Week | June 8–14, 2026
Hi everyone,
Bike Month is underway, temps climb into the 80s by midweek, the Martis Valley Trail just got a key new connection, and Concerts at Commons kicks off Sunday in Tahoe City. Feels like summer!
THIS WEEK AT A GLANCE
Truckee Bike Month is officially underway. Mayor Anna Klovstad is set to proclaim June as Truckee Bike Month at Tuesday’s Town Council meeting, with events continuing all month, including a Bike Kitchen pop-up at Truckee Library on Thursday and Bike Everywhere Day on June 17.
A hot, dry stretch arrives midweek. Monday stays cooler and breezy, then temps climb fast, reaching the low-to-upper 80s Wednesday through the weekend.
The Martis Valley Trail has a new connection. Segment 3F officially opened last week, closing the final gap between Northstar’s Castle Peak parking lots and Northstar Village.
Concerts at Commons starts Sunday. The free Tahoe City summer concert series returns June 14 at Commons Beach, running Sundays through September 6, with no concert July 5.
Golden mussels were intercepted at Meyers. Watercraft inspectors stopped another vessel carrying the highly invasive species before it entered Lake Tahoe. Clean, Drain, Dry everything before it touches the lake.

A cool, breezy Monday gives way to a hot, dry summer pattern.

Bike season is very much on. With hot, dry weather building this week, morning rides are the move, especially by Thursday and Friday.
The big trail news this week is the new Martis Valley Trail segment connecting Northstar’s Castle Peak parking lots to Northstar Village. This is a great one for families, path riders, commuters, and anyone who likes the idea of getting around without dealing with parking.
A few reminders for the week:
Expect warm, exposed conditions by midweek.
Bring more water than you think you need.
Watch for lingering wet or muddy spots on shaded trails.
Keep an eye on wind if you’re heading onto the lake Monday.
Clean, Drain, Dry all watercraft and lake gear.
COMMUNITY ALERTS & REMINDERS
East Shore Parking Enforcement Is Active
New no-parking and limited parking rules are in effect along the SR-28 corridor from Sand Harbor toward the Carson City line. Use designated lots and plan ahead, especially on warm weekends.
Clean, Drain, Dry
Golden mussels are a serious threat to Lake Tahoe. Boats, kayaks, paddleboards, float tubes, fishing gear, and anything else that touches the water should be cleaned, drained, and dried before entering the lake.
