SKI REPORT
Bottom line: A major late-season storm dropped ~3.5 ft over the past 3 days on the upper mountain, bringing fresh powder—but operations remain limited and highly variable.
New snow: ~18–22” in the last 24 hours; ~25” in the last 72 hours
Season total: ~348”; base: ~23”; conditions: fresh powder up high
Operations: ~9 / 39 lifts open; ~27 / 296 trails open (~10% terrain)
Access: Mountain Run remains closed due to thin coverage—download via Funitel or Aerial Tram
What to expect: Winter-like snow quality on the upper mountain, but coverage is still thin at lower elevations. Expect limited terrain, delayed openings, and changing lift status throughout the week. Palisades is likely operating day-to-day as it pushes toward a late April closing window.
AVALANCHE FORECAST
Bottom line: Danger is MODERATE, with human-triggered avalanches still possible, especially in wind-loaded areas.
Wind slabs remain the main concern near ridgelines and exposed slopes
If the sun comes out, wet loose avalanches may develop quickly
Watch for red flags: cracking, recent slides, or wet/mushy snow
Best approach: keep it conservative and avoid steep, wind-loaded terrain.
COMMUNITY ALERTS
Palisades Operations Update
Operations remain dynamic following the recent storm, with lifts closed as of Sunday due to a mix of weather impacts and end-of-season conditions. If you’re planning to ski or ride this week, check status before heading up and be prepared for limited terrain and changing conditions.
Fraudulent Email Warning (Truckee Planning Dept.)
The Town of Truckee is warning residents and applicants about scam emails impersonating planning staff and requesting payments or sensitive information. The Town will never request payment via email—verify any suspicious messages directly with Town staff.
Backcountry & Spring Avalanche Conditions
Recent snowfall combined with warming temperatures increases the risk of wet loose avalanches and unstable storm slabs. Conditions can change quickly throughout the day—especially in the afternoon. Always check the latest forecast before heading out.
Tahoe Via Ferrata Opening Soon
Tahoe’s Via Ferrata climbing experience at Palisades Tahoe typically opens in late spring and offers guided routes up an 800-foot granite wall. If you’re planning early-season bookings, note that opening timing depends heavily on snowpack and conditions. (tahoevia.com)
