Savoie opened July 1 in Tahoe City after a seven-year rebuild of the historic Pfeifer House. Chefs Mark and Allison Sullivan are bringing cuisine inspired by the Savoy region of the Alps to one of Tahoe City’s most familiar restaurant spaces.
Several Lake Forest neighborhood beaches, including Skylandia and Bristlecone, were closed early on July 4 after large teen gatherings created safety concerns, underage drinking issues, littering, and traffic impacts.
The Jibboom Street housing project is officially moving forward after Truckee Town Council voted 4-0 on June 23 to reject the appeal, clearing the path for the 62-unit mixed-use development in Historic Downtown.
Palisades Tahoe is bringing back its Midweek Season Pass for the first time in more than a decade. Starting at $699, it covers unlimited Monday-Friday skiing for the 2026-27 season.
The Tahoe Truckee Airport District committed $2 million in matching funds toward the new Truckee Regional Library. Friends of the Truckee Library must raise another $2 million in private donations by Dec. 31 to unlock the match.
TART launched its expanded summer schedule July 1, including real-time bus tracking, 30-minute service on the Highway 267 corridor Friday-Sunday, and free event shuttles for Concerts at Commons Beach every Sunday.

Savoie Opens in Tahoe City
After seven years and a near-complete rebuild of the century-old Pfeifer House, Savoie opened July 1 in Tahoe City.
Chefs Mark and Allison Sullivan, both with deep Bay Area and French culinary roots, are serving Alpine regional cuisine inspired by the Savoy area of France, Italy, and Switzerland. The restaurant includes 120 seats, an open kitchen, and a wine room downstairs.
Lake Forest Beaches Closed Early After Large Teen Gatherings
Several Lake Forest neighborhood beaches, including Skylandia and Bristlecone, were closed early on July 4 after large teen gatherings prompted public safety concerns.
According to reports, Placer County officials cited underage drinking, widespread littering, and traffic impacts in surrounding neighborhoods after deputies spent multiple nights managing crowds and clearing the area.
Jibboom Street Housing Project Moves Forward
Truckee Town Council voted 4-0 on June 23 to uphold the Planning Commission’s approval of the 62-unit Residences at Jibboom project.
The mixed-use project has been one of the more closely watched downtown development issues, focused on addressing housing needs and downtown growth.
Airport District Commits $2 Million for New Regional Library
The Tahoe Truckee Airport District committed $2 million in matching funds toward the new Truckee Regional Library. The commitment is structured as a match, meaning Friends of the Truckee Library must raise an additional $2 million in private donations by Dec. 31 to unlock the funds.
That makes the next few months important for the library campaign.
TDPUD Launches Preemptive Power Shutoff Program
New this year, Truckee Donner Public Utility District has its own wildfire safety power shutoff program for its service area, separate from NV Energy’s. Customers will receive 48-24 hour and 12-4 hour advance notices before any planned shutoff.
Even in a relatively mellow weather week, now is the time to check backup batteries, flashlights, medications, refrigerator plans, garage door access, and household communication plans. You can also sign up for TDPUD outage alerts.
Truckee Fire Awards $418K in Wildfire Prevention Grants
Truckee Fire awarded $418,853 through its fifth annual Measure T Community Wildfire Prevention Grant cycle, funding five local projects. Since 2022, the program has distributed more than $3.2 million across 21 grants.
Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Released Into Lake Tahoe
Thousands of native Lahontan cutthroat trout were released into Lake Tahoe at Meeks Bay in a historic restoration effort.
The Lahontan cutthroat is Tahoe’s only native trout species, so this is a notable step for lake ecology and long-term restoration work.
