Weather Outlook
A warm, dry stretch continues in Truckee and North Tahoe this week. Highs start in the mid to upper 50s early in the week, then climb into the mid to upper 60s by Thursday and continue through the weekend. Expect sunny skies most days, light afternoon breezes, and chilly overnight lows in the mid 20s to mid 30s. No storms are currently in the forecast.

KidZone Museum Breaking Ground This Spring: The Truckee children’s museum is moving forward on its new permanent home at Truckee River Regional Park, with a building permit in hand and phase one construction funded by a multi-million-dollar anonymous gift. The first phase includes a 6,500-square-foot museum and science center plus 9,000 square feet of outdoor space. A ribbon-cutting is expected later this year. Source: Moonshine Ink
Measles Alert in Placer County: Placer County Public Health confirmed three measles cases in a single family, all teenagers, linked through household exposure. A fourth suspected case is also a family member. No school or public exposures were identified. All are recovering at home. Martis Valley Trail Segment 3F Complete: Placer County and the Northstar Community Services District completed the 1.23-mile Segment 3F of the Martis Valley Trail, closing the gap between Northstar’s Castle Peak parking lots and Northstar Village. Four bridges, a 50-foot boardwalk, and ADA-accessible paving were installed in a single construction season. A ribbon-cutting is planned for June. Youth Climate Protest in Downtown Truckee: The Tahoe Youth Action Team, the local chapter of Citizen’s Climate Lobby, staged a “snowman protest” in downtown Truckee last week, placing approximately 100 snowmen with signs calling for climate action. Epic Pass 2026-27 Now on Sale: Vail Resorts launched the 2026-27 Epic Pass at $1,089 for adults, a 3.6% increase from last year. A new 20% discount for skiers and riders under 30 brings the price to $869. The Epic Local Pass starts at $809. Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood are all included. North Tahoe Chamber Awards $660,000 to 48 Local Events: Tourism-generated funds from the North Lake Tahoe Tourism Business Improvement District are supporting 48 events in 2026, including the Made in Tahoe Festival, Alpenglow Sports Winter Speaker Series, Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic, Tahoe Film Fest, and more. Truckee Business Climate Report: The Truckee Chamber of Commerce released its 2025 Business Listening Tour findings, based on confidential conversations with local employers. The central takeaway: most businesses are getting by, but “few feel truly stable.” Rising costs, staffing pressures, burnout, and difficulty planning amid volatility were recurring themes. Palisades Tahoe - Conditions are machine-groomed with variable conditions off-piste. Season snowpack stands at 278 inches total. No new snow in the last 7 days. 32 of 39 lifts open, 162 of 296 trails open, 84% of terrain accessible. The mountain is running well into spring conditions. Parking reservations are required prior to 1 PM on weekends. Consider the TART bus or rideshare as alternatives.
