THIS WEEK AT A GLANCE
A brief stretch of unsettled weather opens the week, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible Monday and Tuesday. Conditions should turn warmer and sunnier beginning Wednesday, although another stray storm cannot be ruled out over the weekend.
The newly expanded Truckee North Tahoe Jobs Collective is officially live, bringing the Truckee Chamber, North Tahoe Chamber, Tahoe Prosperity Center, and Peak Digital Studio together to support employers and job seekers across the region.
It is another packed week for live music, including Truckee Thursdays, Broken Compass Bluegrass at Music in the Park, the Brubeck Jazz Summit, and Big Blue Guitarmageddon at Commons Beach on Sunday.
UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center presents its annual State of the Lake Report Thursday evening at Granlibakken Tahoe.

Truckee North Tahoe Jobs Collective Launches
The Truckee Chamber, North Tahoe Chamber, Tahoe Prosperity Center, and Peak Digital Studio have formalized a regional workforce partnership through the newly renamed Truckee North Tahoe Jobs Collective.
The expanded program builds on the former Truckee Jobs Collective and will increase employer outreach, workforce programming, job postings, networking opportunities, and hiring events throughout Truckee and North Lake Tahoe.
The partnership also plans to host two regional job fairs each year, with one in Truckee and one in North Tahoe.
Employers can post openings and job seekers can explore local opportunities at truckeenorthtahoejobs.com.
Thousands of Native Trout Released into Meeks Bay
The Washoe Environmental Protection Department and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently released 5,000 Lahontan cutthroat trout into Meeks Bay.
It was the largest release completed through the partnership to date, and several thousand additional fish are expected to be released later this month.
The effort is intended to restore Lake Tahoe’s native trout population and carries particular cultural significance for the Washoe people.
New Fund Supports Truckee’s Cultural District
Following the end of state funding for California Cultural Districts on June 30, Nevada County Arts & Culture has launched a new Cultural District Resilience Fund.
The fund will help sustain arts and cultural programming in the Truckee and Grass Valley–Nevada City cultural districts. A $50,000 lead gift has already been pledged.
Washoe Culture Featured in New Public Art
New public art installations highlighting Washoe culture, history, and language have been completed around the Tahoe Basin, including a prominent installation in Kings Beach.
The artwork brings Washoe stories and language into public spaces and is part of a broader effort to make the region’s Indigenous history more visible.
Free Cardboard Recycling Pilot Opens in Kings Beach
Placer County has launched a free residential bulk-cardboard recycling pilot in Kings Beach.
The program gives residents a convenient place to drop off larger amounts of flattened cardboard that may not fit inside normal curbside recycling containers.
Freeride Is Heading to the Olympics
Freeride skiing and snowboarding will make their Olympic debut at the 2030 Winter Games in the French Alps.
It is a major milestone for the sport and especially relevant here in Tahoe since we produce the best freeride skiers in the world!
New Airport Parking Lot Opens July 21
Reno-Tahoe International Airport will open a new Park & Walk parking lot on July 21.
The 560-space lot is located at 2555 Aviation Way and will cost $16 per day. Travelers should plan for a roughly 10–15-minute walk to the terminal, as shuttle service will not be provided.

The week begins with a brief period of unsettled weather before warmer and generally drier conditions return.
Today: Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible, with a high near 77 degrees. Some storms could produce gusty winds, lightning, and brief heavy rain.
Tuesday: Another chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 79.
Wednesday: Sunny and warmer, with a high near 84.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 84.
Friday: Mostly sunny and warm, with a high near 84.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a slight chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms. High near 83.
Sunday: Partly sunny with another chance of showers. High near 82.
Thunderstorms can develop quickly in the mountains, so keep an eye on the sky during afternoon rides, hikes, and lake days. Lightning, sudden wind gusts, and localized heavy rain can occur well away from the center of a storm.

COMMUNITY ALERTS & REMINDERS
The Truckee Fire burn ban remains in effect. Wood fires, campfires, bonfires, and charcoal cooking are prohibited. Gas and propane devices are generally allowed unless additional restrictions are announced.
North Lake Tahoe fire restrictions are also in effect. Review the current rules before using any outdoor cooking or heating device.
Summer parking restrictions continue along the East Shore. Do not park in signed no-parking areas along State Route 28.
