Still making weekend plans? There’s a movie at Sand Harbor, a costume-filled bike day in Truckee and a free community celebration in Kings Beach. Here are five things worth knowing about.
Friday: Halloween at Sand Harbor
Spooky Harbor starts with festival activities at 4pm, trick-or-treating at 6pm and Monster House on the outdoor stage at 7:30pm. Bring blankets, snacks and a flashlight. The event is free; park entrance fees apply.
Saturday: Costumes meet the pump track
Truck-ee-Treat Dirt Jam runs 10am–4pm at Riverview Bike Park in Truckee. The day starts with a pump-track session for kids 12 and under, followed by racing, trick showcases and slopestyle. Costumes and decorated bikes encouraged. Pro division entry is $20; other fees aren’t specified.
Saturday: A free afternoon in Kings Beach
Tahoe Backyard’s Día de los Muertos celebration runs noon–7pm with music, face painting, food and an altar remembering loved ones. It also marks the opening of La Katrina Food Truck. Free admission, with food available to purchase.
Saturday evening: Chocolate, wine and a local cause
The Tahoe Chocolate & Wine Festival brings tastings and Dead Winter Carpenters to the Hyatt Regency in Incline Village, 6–10pm. Tickets are listed at $250, supporting Sierra Community House’s work across North Tahoe and Truckee. Check availability before making plans.
Sunday: Trade your broomstick for a paddle
The Donner Lake Witches Paddle gathers at Donner Memorial State Park, 10am–1:30pm. Bring your paddleboard or kayak, a costume and a personal flotation device. Prepare for cold water and check organizer updates for conditions and fees.
Weekend weather
Truckee’s forecast calls for a cool Friday around 50°F, sunshine Saturday with a high of 58°F, and partly sunny skies Sunday reaching 64°F. Overnight lows drop into the low 20s Friday and Saturday, so bring warm layers for evening plans and expect chilly morning starts.
